Ron Moyer served the University of South Dakota for 36 years (1974-2010) as a professor of theatre. During his tenure, he was chairperson of the department on three different occasions, director of graduate studies and the primary teacher of the Theatre History/Dramatic Literature (a four-course sequence), Acting Shakespeare, Text Analysis, Introduction to Graduate Studies, and numerous other courses. He was also a regular artistic contributor as an actor and director at the Black Hills Playhouse for nearly three decades. It is impossible to fully express the impact Dr. Moyer had—and continues to have—on the department.
The Department of Theatre has for decades attracted students who study all aspects of theatre and find success in the professional field of theatre. However, it continues to be a challenge for students to fully fund their college education. The Ronald L. Moyer Theatre Scholarship, created in memory of the former department chair and theatre history professor, will assist the department to help students in need. Ron spent his career helping others, and this fund will continue that good work.
Sales from this apparel will go to fund the Ron L. Moyer Theatre Scholarship.
